KJSO is an interdisciplinary Olympiad that tests participants' knowledge in three subjects at once — chemistry, biology, and physics. This approach allows obtaining comprehensive knowledge of natural sciences without being limited to a single subject. Tasks include test questions, theoretical open-ended problems, as well as an experimental round in the final stage. The Olympiad focuses on developing and creating opportunities for juniors, as well as their further preparation for the IJSO. Participants who will not turn 16 by December 31, 2026, are eligible to participate.
The Olympiad is open to students in grades 7–9 from all schools in Kazakhstan. The selection stage is online, the final is in-person in Almaty.

Takes place on the AppFormative platform. After access is granted, participants have 24 hours to complete the tasks. An appeal procedure is provided.
Three rounds — practical, theoretical, and test. Conducted in-person at the Kazakh-British Technical University with the support of the Beyond Curriculum Foundation.
